Highbush Cranberry Juice & Jelly
Author: Tracy Ruth Fuchs Location: On the Wanipigow River, Manitoba, where the river meets Wanipigow Lake
One of my favourite things to do on a beautiful fall day is to go down the river in a boat and look for cranberries. One day, my dad took my sisters and myself in our boat down the Wanipigow River in Manitoba near our cabin. We were so excited when we saw the cranberries hanging from the bushes over the river; we picked them in bags and our hats too! My mom took the cranberries and cooked them in a large pot to make juice and jelly. They smell pretty funny when they are cooking, but taste great when sweetened with some sugar.
